Chief Executive Officer
Brian Humphries is the Chief Executive Officer of Cognizant and a member of our Board of Directors. In his role as CEO, Brian sets the strategic direction, promotes Cognizant’s values and client-first culture and focuses on ensuring the company’s sustainable growth and driving long-term shareholder value.
Brian is a broadly experienced technology executive with a proven track record of driving enterprise-wide transformation through focused execution, often in challenging and highly competitive market segments. Brian brings a global perspective and a keen knowledge of our business and the technologies with which we innovate. Prior to Cognizant, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Business from 2017 until 2019, a division of Vodafone Group that accounted for nearly a third of its parent company’s service revenue with approximately €12 billion in sales globally during 2017–2018. Humphries joined Vodafone from Dell Technologies where his positions from 2013 to 2017 included President and Chief Operating Officer of its Infrastructure Solutions Group, President of Dell’s Global Enterprise Solutions (a group with approximately $15 billion in revenue), and Vice President and General Manager, EMEA Enterprise Solutions. Before joining Dell, Humphries was with Hewlett-Packard where his roles included Senior Vice President, Emerging Markets, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Development, and Chief Financial Officer of HP Services. The early part of his career was spent with Compaq and Digital Equipment Corporation.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland.
Chief Financial Officer
Karen McLoughlin is Cognizant’s Chief Financial Officer. She oversees the company’s worldwide financial planning and analysis, accounting and controllership, tax, treasury and internal audit functions. Other areas under her purview include investor relations, enterprise risk management, procurement and real estate functions.
Prior to her current position Karen was Senior Vice President, Enterprise Transformation and Financial Planning & Analysis, leading teams that she architected during her time at Cognizant. In that role, she was responsible for our worldwide financial planning and analysis, enterprise risk management and enterprise transformation functions. This included facilitating and executing various internal transformational initiatives designed to enable our strategic vision.
During her tenure Karen has developed a deep understanding of Cognizant from both a financial and a business operations perspective. Outside of Cognizant she serves on the Board of Directors of Best Buy Co. Inc.
Prior to joining Cognizant in 2003 Karen spent six years at Spherion Corp. and three years at Ryder System Inc., where she held key financial management positions. Before joining Ryder, she spent six years in the South Florida Practice of Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).
Karen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wellesley College and an MBA degree from Columbia University.
President, Cognizant Digital Business
Malcolm Frank is President of Cognizant Digital Business. In this role, Malcolm oversees Cognizant’s broad digital services portfolio. This includes Digital Strategy, Artificial Intelligence & Analytics, Interactive, Digital Engineering, IoT, Digital Content Platform, and Cognizant’s Accelerator Program which incubates new industry-specific digital ventures. Prior to this role, Malcolm was Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer.
Malcolm’s influence is wide ranging and evident across media. He has co-authored two best-selling books, “What to Do When Machines Do Everything” (2017) and “Code Halos” (2014), both of which received multiple international book awards. He has also authored numerous white papers focusing on the Future of Work and created the term “SMAC Stack,” now an industry standard. A highly sought-after speaker, Malcolm has presented at various conclaves, including the World Economic Forum and the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals. He is frequently quoted, is the subject of a Harvard Business School case study and was named “one of the most influential people in finance” by Risk Management magazine.
Beyond his practical vision on artificial intelligence (AI) and experience as a founder of three business ventures—and having served as the CEO of two of them—Malcolm works closely with Cognizant clients to gain business advantage from large-scale digital transformation programs. He serves on the Board of Directors of FactSet Research Systems Inc. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). Malcolm holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Yale University.
General Counsel, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Secretary
Matt Friedrich is Cognizant’s General Counsel. He is responsible for our legal and corporate affairs functions, having joined the company in 2017. Matt comes to Cognizant from Chevron, where he served as Chief Corporate Counsel from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that he was a law firm partner with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Matt began his legal career as a federal prosecutor, working in the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) for more than 13 years. Matt’s tenure in government culminated in his designation in 2008 as the Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Criminal Division, a 740-employee litigating component of DOJ in Washington, D.C. Matt also served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the U.S. Attorney General, as an Assistant U. S. Attorney, and as a member of the Enron Task Force. Matt is a recipient of the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service and the Director’s Award for Superior Performance.
A graduate of the University of Texas School of Law and the University of Virginia, Matt clerked for United States District Judge Royal Furgeson in the Western District of Texas. Matt is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the board of directors of the U.S. India Business Council.
President, North America
Dharmendra Kumar Sinha is Cognizant’s Executive Vice President and President, Global Client Services. Appointed in 2013, DK leads our global sales, field marketing and intermediary relations teams. He is also responsible for our strategic partnerships and alliances organization.
From 2007 to 2013, DK served as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Global Sales and Field Marketing. Before that he served as Vice President of Cognizant, responsible for our manufacturing, logistics, retail, hospitality and technology verticals, which are among our fastest growing markets. DK also assumed Head of Sales and Field Marketing responsibilities for the company and, during this same period, managed our insurance practice.
Prior to joining Cognizant in 1997, DK worked with Tata Consultancy Services and CMC Ltd, an end-to-end IT solutions provider. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Patna Science College in Patna, India, and an MBA degree from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra.
Chief Marketing Officer
Gaurav Chand is Cognizant’s Chief Marketing Officer. In this role, Gaurav oversees all aspects of Cognizant’s global marketing, including brand, creative, digital, events, communications, field and corporate marketing. Gaurav’s primary mission is to facilitate growth by developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan that promotes Cognizant’s digital leadership, increases brand recognition and extends its competitive advantage in all market segments.
Before joining Cognizant, Gaurav served as the Chief Marketing Officer for cloud and network services provider CenturyLink. Prior to that, he was the Global Senior Vice President, Marketing of the Infrastructure Solutions group for Dell EMC, where he led the marketing strategy for a multibillion-dollar enterprise solutions portfolio. Gaurav has held a variety of senior marketing roles since 1996 and has extensive experience creating marketing strategies that result in revenue growth.
Gaurav holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Fergusson College in Pune, India, and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
President, Cognizant Digital Operations
Ganesh Ayyar is the President of Cognizant Digital Operations, which provides business process services, automation services and platform services to 100+ clients through 65,000+ associates across 25+ countries.
Previously, Ganesh was the CEO of Mphasis (a global IT services company listed in India) for eight years, from 2009 to 2017. He was recognized as the CEO of the Year in 2016 by CEO Connections for his successful track record of transformation initiatives and market value enhancements. The Blackstone Group Inc. bought a majority stake in Mphasis in 2016, marking one of the largest investments in an India-listed company.
Prior to Mphasis, Ganesh spent nearly two decades with Hewlett-Packard. He rose through the ranks, holding a variety of leadership roles across multiple geographies. Ganesh’s views on the role of corporate culture, talent and process in digital transformation are well documented.
